Some people are very interested in art while others could care less. It must be tough visiting an art museum when one of you is bored right from the start. I am an art lover and can spend hours in any of the many art museums around Ohio. This photo was taken on a recent trip to the Cincinnati Art Museum with my friend Jim Nash and his sons. It’s a good thing that all of us were enjoying everything the museum had to offer. Otherwise, it would have been a very long day, as I suspect it was for the gentleman in this image.

Looking at 2012

Every year, I create a book of my favorite images from the previous 12 months. This years book Looking at 2012 is finished and off of the presses. I give the book to family and friends that have supported my hobby. It’s also a great way to protect my photos from my greatest fear… lightning taking out my back up drive.

If you are interested in seeing this year’s effort, you can download the PDF here:

What do you do with your favorite images? Do you print them out and hang thm on the wall? Do you give them to friends and family? Feel free to share your creative ideas in the comments.

One of the very few decent photos to come out of yesterday's trip to Columbus, Ohio. The weather was overcast and dreary, making for some really horrific lighting. Still, you got to shoot in the light you're given when you are outdoors. My buddy Jim and I made the most of it and had a great time.

Tiffany windows part two

Yesterday I promised to bring you some photos that showed what the Tiffany windows looked like from afar. As you can see, they are really stunning.

In this image, I composited my two favorites into a side by side image so that you could get a better idea of what they looked like. The Tiffany glass artists really lived up to their reputation of being the best in their field.

I am not a religious person. However, I really appreciate the art and music that religion has inspired in others. Stained glass windows happen to be a favorite. If you have some favorite stained glass windows, share them with us by providing a link in the comments.

Have a wonderful day.

When it comes to non-photographic art, I generally find myself drawn to watercolors and, dutch masters, and the impressionists. I can name only a handful of current artists beyond the few that I am personally acquainted with. Dale Chihuly is among those few well known artists whose work is instantly recognizable to me.

His name comes so easily to mind because of the beautiful glass medium that he works within and the organic shapes that he creates. His peaces are easily recognizable.

Franklin Park Conservatory, located just east of downtown Columbus, Ohio has a large permanent collection of Chihuly glass sculptures that warrant a visit if you are ever in the area. Installed within the indoor gardens, the sculptures mingle with the gorgeous plants and flowers and can be visited year round without needing to worry about the weather. As an added bonus, many of the pieces are located within the tropical butterfly house.

Lovely art, beautiful flowers, and butterflies. How can you go wrong with a combination like that?
