Sometimes you just need to take a lean. Maybe your hoofs are a little tired or you back is sore. Leaning just seems to be the perfect solution. Even if you are a cow.
As I was driving up to the farm, I was astounded to see this spectacular sky hanging over the barn. The contrasnts, the color and the sheer weight of it were all there. I stopped the car got out and just looked at the secene for a while when the clouds parted long enough to bathe the barn in color. I only took two shots and they were both wonderful. Tht doesn't happen very often and when it does, I walk away with a big grin on my face.
I know, this is a black and white image. Well… I didn't say that I would leave the wall purple every week. As a matter of fact, I fully intend to og as many directions as I can with this weekly project. Who knows where I will go next week. I do have a few ideas, so we will just have to see which ones work out.
For now, you get to enjoy one of the rare selfies from me. I generaly don't enjoy them. Primarilly because I don't know how to pose or what kind of facial expression to use. For this one, I woke up at four in the morning & knew I couldn't get back to sleep. So, I set up the lighting gear and tripod and shot about a dozen frames. This one turned out to be the keeper. Howeever, there was a close second place photo as well.
THis pose just seemed to awkward to come in first place. I also like the way the white shirt in the first selfie pops against the dark wall.
Stay tuned to next week and we will both discover what happens in front of the purple wall this week. Have a wonderful week.
This month, Kat Sloma has an interesting post about intentially using blur in our photography. My mind instantly thought of motion blur and depth of focus. However, Kat came up with many other thoughtful takes on using blur for artistic purposes.
As usual, Kat's posts have me thinking about my own work and looking for examples of her thoughts in my images.
What I learned from looking through my recent images is that most of the blur I use is motion blur. Maybe I need to take Kat's post to heart and think of other forms of blur that I can work into my photography.
Can you handle another old photo from my babyhood? I would have been about a year and a half old. I don't wear the rubber pants any longer, but you never know, I am in my 50s and they can't be ruled out in the future. I do sport that fat belly. I lost it in my teens, twenties and thirties. However, I found it again in my fourties and it has been a constant companion ever since.
Enjoy your weekend folks. I hope your Friday is the start to a great one.
Today'simage is of the main concourse located at Cincinnati's Museum Center, an art deco train station dating from the early 1930s. Architecture is a subject that I find fascinating, especially buildings such as this one with wonderful design and history combined into one location. Being such a fan, I have to admit that I am very uneducated ont he subject. I am a fan will little to back up my fascination. I just like what I see and every once in a while, I learn something along the way. this is definitely a case of just likeing something and not feeling the need to understand why.
I think this is the second post in a row where I am coming off as a typical male. Maybe I need to look into this.
Laughter is a wonderful thing. My home, thanks to a large degree to my beautiful wife (not pictured here), is full of laughter. We don't need much of an excuse to laugh. Laughter and music are two of the most common sounds you will hear when visiting us. The result is a very happy home.
I am not trying to say that our home doesn't have it's times of tears or grumbling. It does. We are normal people living normal lives. However, we are happy and we laugh, and in my mind, the two are deeply connected. One may be the cause of the other. I don't know. I am a man and I don't delve too deeply into "feelings". For me, it's enough to have happiness and laughter sitting side by side in a place of prominence in our home.
Laughter… it's a wonderful thing.
When I was working on this image of my friend Debbie, my wife was looking over my shoulder and she instantly reacted to the photo. The image is an out take from several other images, but because of the laughter, it is my favorite from the day. The image, my wife's reaction, the smiles, & the laughter are all rolled together for me into warm thoughts of my home and how lucky I am.
