prairie rockets

Prairie Rockets

I have no idea what these plants are. However, they remind me of rockets erupting from the prairie grass and reaching towards the sky in a massive salvo. You didn't know that I knew words like salvo did you? I am chock full of surprises.

Have a great week folks.

mandolin

Mandolin 2

I arrived at the farm this morning to find my friend Debbie practicing her mandolin by the light of the window. What's a photographer to do?

Mandolin 1

Debbie and her friend Rob have a concert tomorrow night and she was fine tuning her performance. In case you are wondering, she is playing a nineteenth century mandolin. The instrument is gorgeous and in Debbie's hands, it sounds wonderful.

I had the 70-210mm f2.8 mounted on the camera body & had to back up against the wall to get these shots in. Still, I ended up cropping a little closer to make them feel more intimate. I hope you like them.

cooper’s great expedition

Cooper's Great Expedition

Our youngest cat, Cooper, has recently decided that he needs a little adventure in his life. Stalking the ground hog (Gary) that lives under our shed is no longer challenging enough. After all, Gary lets him come as close as he wants. What Cooper wanted was something new. Something that would cement his reputation with the other cats. He found it on the roof. Now, he is addicted to the adrenaline rush. He's up there all the time. Or maybe its just the one time and he can't get down?

I'll be right back….

the compound

The Compound 2

On a recent photo outing, I discovered that our small city was home to a bonafide survivalist bunker/compound.

The Compound 1

While I found it impossible to see inside the compound, judging by the number of antennas and steel towers surrounding the property, the occupant has no problem keeping an eye on the rest of the world. Going by the message on the outside of his wall, I would say that he is a right wing tea party nut case. I just thought I should share. there is nothing like getting a little of the local flavor.

rainy day & pink dogwood

Pink Dogwood

Today I woke up early to venture into the morning & hopefully catch the sunrise. Unfortunately, we never really saw much of the sun today. Instead, we had dreary skies and rain. Late afternoon, I ventured out again to wander around the yard. That's when I spied the pink blossoms on one of our new dogwoods. Thought you might like to see them, so here I am sharing. Tell my kindergarten teacher that I still play well with others. Thank you.
