Sunrise Ripples

Waking up early is part of my daily routine. On week days, this leads to getting ready for work and the long drive in. On the weekend, the time is spent surfing, reading and going for walks at the lake. I look forward to watching the sun rise. During this particular morning, as I watched the sun coming up through the trees, a fish jumped in front of me. I was too late to catch the fish, but we can see the ripples that resulted.

In processing this image, I really selectively pushed the saturation. Blues, reds and yellows were all given a heavy hand to make the colors pop. I hope you enjoy the photo.

In the Morning, I Dreamed

I love that second sleep. You know the one. It's early Sunday morning and you wake up for a few minutes, but you soon fall asleep again. Just for an hour or so. During that second sleep, your dreams seem more vivid, more real.

When you wake up, the dreams seem easier to remember and you can lay in bed for a few minutes with your eyes closed, soaking in the lusciousness that is half asleep, half awake.

Yes, I love second sleep.

My weekend was that good. Every morning, I was able to wander over to see the sunrise over one pond, lake, or farm field. Sometimes I think that I must not be that bad of a person to be able to see such beauty. Sunday morning was the best. I stopped by Panera to get a large  hot chocolate and then headed for the pond at Huffman park to see the double breasted cormorants wake up. I'll share those photos with your tomorrow. Today, you get the sunrise.

Water Tower Skyline

How cool is this silhouette created in Dayton on Saturday morning? It's the water tower that I really adore. For some reason, I love these old dinosaurs. This image made the trip into Dayton in the wee hours worth the effort. The entire area around the ball park and near Canal Street tavern is pretty interesting from a photographer's point of view.
