red mystery lilly

Mystery Lilly 2

Mystery Lilly 1

My uncle Eddie and I were driving the Ohio back roads near Newark when we came across these red lillies growing wild on the side of the road. You performed so well identifying the spider wort earlier this summer that I thought you might be able to identify these as well.

reflection in flight

Reflection in Flight

Monday morning, my parents and I visited Hurricane Shoals, a county park about twenty minuted from their home in Georgia. While there, we saw a gorgeous great white egret fishing in the river. The bird allowed us to get remarkably close and we sat and watched it for a while. When the bird finally decided to move on, it lifted into the air and passed right in front of us.

My mother and I both snapped away, but panning shots are something that I am not practiced at and was not really prepared for. However, I did get one great shot of the bird's reflection in the surface of the river. I flipped the image, cropped and made my adjustments. I am pretty happy with the results.

Crane

Thought you might want to see a more conventional image of the beautiful bird.

colonization

New Colony

Last weekend, a colony of bees swarmed on the farm. Coincidently, a colony was lost over the weekend. Jumping on the opportunity, the farmers suited up, scooped up the new colony and placed it in an empty bee hive. That's a win-win for everybody.

prairie morning

Prairie Mist

Yesterday morning, I woke early and headed over to the prairie near our home. I never know what I will find when I get there in the morning. There was a little mist and a lot of beauty.

Prairie Morning 2

Birds, bugs, and blooms… all were spectacular in their own way. I had the place to myself and took full advantage of the opportunity to enjoy Mother Nature's serenity.
