My name is Tim McMurdo. By day I am a marketing professional. However, by night I become an avenging photographer and freelance designer. I normally try to fade into the crowd as I stalk the light. So, if you see me, just act cool and give me a quiet nod. I will know that you are a superhero too.
Here are some questions that I am often asked:
Are you available to shoot portraits?
The answer is yes. I do shoot portraits. If you have a serious inquiry about booking me for a portrait session, just let me know by using the contact information listed below.
Is Tim your real name?
The answer is no. My name is not Tim at all. However, everybody that I have ever known has called me Tim, so I just go with it. You would have to ask my parents why they never used my real name. I never question why, as my alias fits well with my incognito superhero personae.
What camera equipment do you use?
I used to be an Olympus shooter but the lack of product development paired with dropping my camera and destroying the body and favorite lens prompted a change. Now I am shooting with a Sony body and Sony/Minolta lenses. I am really pleased with the new equipment and the support that Sony is putting into their camera gear. I recently invested in the Sony HVL-F43AM flash and have been putting it thorough its paces. A good solid performing flash unit to be sure.
Why not Nikon or Canon?
There are several answers to what appears to be a simple question.
1. I don’t like to do what the rest of the crowd is doing just because they are doing so. Being different is part of who I am in life as well as creatively.
2. I prefer my image stabilization built into the body and not the lens.
3. Sony uses the same lens mount as the older Minolta camera line, I can get a lot of good glass inexpensively.
4. Sony has a lot of money in their deep pockets and are putting a lot of it to use in new product development. Technologies like translucent mirrors and improved sensors are going to be key to the future of photography and I am betting that Sony has the money, will and ability to over take the top two down a notch.
